Jharkhand governor appoints three new vice-chancellors

Ranchi, March 10: The Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities in Jharkhand, Santosh Kuamr Gangwar, has appointed three new vice-chancellors for state universities, according to official notifications issued from Lok Bhavan on Tuesday.

Under the powers conferred by the Jharkhand State Universities Act, 2000 and the Jharkhand State Open University Act, 2021, the following appointments have been made. These appointments were notified a day after the governor consulted with Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Rajiv Manohar for DSPMU

Prof. Rajiv Manohar, currently a professor at the University of Lucknow, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU), Ranchi.

Abhay Kumar Singh for Jharkhand State Open University

Prof. Abhay Kumar Singh, presently serving as Professor and Dean at Nalanda University, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand State Open University, Ranchi.

Ela Kumar for Jamshedpur Women’s University

Dr Ela Kumar, currently a professor at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Delhi, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Jamshedpur Women’s University, Jamshedpur.

According to the notification, all three vice-chancellors will assume office from the date they take charge and will hold the position at the pleasure of the Chancellor for a term not exceeding three years.

The appointments are subject to vigilance clearance from the parent organisations of the candidates.

The orders were issued by Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor, Nitin Madan Kulkarni.
